7th March 2011

At the weekend Mr W suggested that maybe we should cut down the bush at the bottom of the garden as it had been somewhat squashed by the winter snow and was rather unruly. 'That's an idea', I said and lo and behold when I looked in the garden this afternoon it appears that he's taken me at my word and all that's left now is a stump of wood!

Out on our decking this morning and noticed that one of our pots hasn't really survived the winter...

10th February 2011

For a change this week I've been wearing my puffy winter coat to work rather than my usual long black one. Not quite sure what prompted this variation - possibly the thought of being wrapped up in the snuggliness of it - but I'm liking it. The only downside is that it's not much good at keeping my legs warm when it's cold in the mornings!

It's not very rock and roll, but when the weather's cold and miserable outside I do like a hot water bottle or two to warm my toes at night!

As uncool as they may be, I have been wearing my trusty boots to work this week as not only do they have good grip for walking on the snowy and icy pavements of Orpington, but they also have a fleecy lining to keep my tootsies warm in this bitterly cold weather that we're having!

3rd December 2010

In an inspired moment whilst buying milk this morning I decided to buy some soup for lunch to warm us up in this cold weather, unfortunately our power went off just before lunch and so I had to ransack the garage to find our camping stove to heat it up! Typically the power was restored shortly after lunch!

2nd December 2010

Still cold and snowy today. Spotted this collection of icicles hanging from our guttering outside our study window - brrr!

1st December 2010

A new month and more snow - it took me an hour and a half to get to work this morning for a meeting and then I headed home straight afterwards to try and avoid chaos on the trains. The plan sort of worked in that the train wasn't rammed full of people but it still took me two hours to get home. Once home I took the opportunity to make a snow angel before getting on with some more work!

30th November 2010

Today we woke up to our first snow of the winter. The garden looks so pretty, but unfortunately the snow does nothing for the trains and getting home from work this evening was a nightmare.
