One of the best things about spring is that the days get longer and it's still light when I'm on my way home meaning that you get a nice view down the Thames from Cannon Street station, provided of course there are no trains in the way!

Miserable journey home this evening - the train was running slow anyway as there was congestion around Lewisham and then when we got to Grove Park the driver announced that there was no power on our train. After investigation he decided it couldn't be fixed and so we were all thrown off the train and left to wait for another train to arrive. Eventually, after not being able to squeeze on the first train that arrived, I got home nearly two hours after leaving the office - normally it takes about an hour!

Today we woke up to our first snow of the winter. The garden looks so pretty, but unfortunately the snow does nothing for the trains and getting home from work this evening was a nightmare.

After battling across town in the rush hour on the tube and train, I finally made it to Watford Junction and breathed a sigh of relief that I don't have to make this journey every day!

Autumn has definitely arrived and tonight as it was pouring with rain on my way to the station I was very glad that I didn't have to join the throng of umbrellas on London Bridge and could go to Cannon Street to get my train instead.

Chaos at London Bridge on the station this evening as the Cannon Street train to Orpington/Sevenoaks was cancelled and so we were all packed off to London Bridge to try our luck there.  Amazingly despite the crowds I managed to find a seat once the Orpington train arrived!

After 4 years on secondment I finally returned to LR today - revised train journey, re-built computer, re-modelled canteen, but one thing was brand new - my pass!

Getting across the road outside Victoria station in rush hour is never easy with all the roadworks going on. However Wednesday evenings are the worst as rush hour coincides with the end of the Wicked matinee show leading to a heady mixture of theategoers spilling out of the Apollo colliding with fraught commuters rushing for their trains!

When the train timetable changed last December they added a new train which was formed of 4 carriages waiting at the station and 4 from an incoming train. However it seems they forgot to give the station staff the manual on connecting them and so for the first couple of weeks it was a disaster as they struggled to join the carriages. Trains were frequently late boarding and on a couple of occasions forced to run as a 4 coach train, happily though they seem to have got the hang of it now and we can get home promptly.
