Congratulations to Prince William and Catherine Middleton on their marriage! Having watched the whole shebang on the television this morning we then joined our neighbours this afternoon for a street party to celebrate! The sun even shone for us after a rather dull start to the day.

Tomorrow we're having a street party on our road to celebrate the Royal Wedding and what could be more British than trifle so this evening I've been making some mini trifles for us to eat at the party! Just need to add the cream tomorrow morning.

Congratulations today to my parents on their 40th wedding anniversary! To celebrate they held a party in their garden and this is the fabulous cake that my godmother made for them.

This weekend we're going down to visit my parents and help out at their 40th wedding anniversary party. I seem to have volunteered to make some coleslaw but as my mum doesn't have a food processor I've decided to take ours rather than have to chop cabbage by hand!

It's my parents 40th wedding anniversary in April and so they're going to have a party to celebrate, however as they are currently galavanting around the world it has been left to me to send out the invites. It should have been a relatively simple task - stick a 'no presents please' label on the back of the invite and an address label on the envelope. Unfortunately though my brain wasn't fully functioning this afternoon and on more than one occasion the address label ended up on the invite rather than the envelope - whoops! Still all sorted now, just need to remember to stick stamps on the envelopes...

Tonight we're off to a wild-west themed party - I've got my outfit sorted, now just need to get showered and ready to go!

It was my work Christmas party tonight and there was supposed be a 'Cocktails and Dreams' 80s theme, so we couldn't quite work out the significance of the flamingos on the tables...
It was a good night though and I ended up staying out much later than I expected to!

I thought we were supposed to be in the middle of a recession, however judging by this article in tonight's Standard it appears there are still some people with plenty of money to throw around. Apparently dog parties complete with pup-cakes, doggy bags and party games are all the rage in London at the moment - makes me think there's a word missing from the headline...

We went to a house-warming party this afternoon and this rather freaky piece of art was on prominent display at the top of the stairs. I felt rather bad about that opinion when I heard it was created by our friend's brother, but then on speaking to him he confessed it was part of his GCSE work and even he was now wondering what on earth he was thinking about at the time!

To quote Hannibal from the A-team 'I love it when a plan comes together'. After months of planning and subterfuge it was Mum's party this afternoon and she was suitably surprised to find a whole bunch of relatives waiting to wish her a very happy 60th birthday!

Today I have been a demon baker making cakes for mum's party tomorrow. My godmother has made the birthday cake and some mini chocolate muffins but to supplement that I have been baking scones, mini cupcakes and millionaire's shortbread. There will also be piles of dainty sandwiches but these need to be made tomorrow. Happily my godmother is turning up early to assist with that!

This weekend we are hosting a surprise family gathering to celebrate my Mum's 60th birthday. On the basis that I don't have 20 plates, let alone 20 the same, I decided to hire some crockery from a local supplier and so this evening I went to collect it. Good job it was only for 20 people as not sure I could have fitted much more in the car!
