10th April 2011

Despite very hot conditions, considering it's supposed to be April in Britain, Mr W finished the Brighton Marathon today in 3h 48min - very proud of him!

9th April 2011

Mr W is running in the Brighton Marathon tomorrow and so rather than having to rush down in the morning we decided to stay overnight. We found a small hotel close to the seafront and rather bizarrely our room has this very high four-poster bed in it!

26th February 2011

Mr W laughs at my tendency to take photos of food for this blog, but sometimes mealtimes are the most inspiring point of the day if there's not much happening! Today we had a late lunch of lasagne to re-fuel Mr W following his morning tube run and in advance of his partaking in the Tunbridge Wells half-marathon tomorrow.

24th February 2011

Mr W has just headed off to run to Bodybalance since our car is still being serviced. We always joke that he looks like Hiro Nakamura from Heroes when he does this as he has his yoga mat slung across his body like a sword

1st February 2011

This is the moment Mr W arrived home tonight after running back from work. I'm impressed he's still smiling after 2h 40min on his feet and nearly 17 miles added to his weekly tally! Or maybe the smile is just because he can see his tea waiting for him on the side...

1st January 2011

Welcome to 2011!
We started the year with a run/walk with friends from the running club followed by tea and cakes at someone's house - very nice!

27th November 2010

Today I got up early and braved the icy cold weather to join Mr W on one of his tube runs. I'm not quite as fit as him so he agreed we could just do a short section and we ran the Bank Branch of the Northern Line from London Bridge to Camden Town. It was surprisingly good fun, especially running through the deserted streets of the City that are normally heaving with people during the week. We ran just over 5 miles and were home by 11, I may even be tempted to go again!

23rd November 2010

Today has been a busy day - work, sweet-making with the Brownies and the running club AGM. Bed is looking even more inviting than usual!

7th November 2010

This morning we helped out with the marshalling at a Mob Match between our running club and two other local clubs. It was a little chilly standing around showing people the way to go and cheering them on but at least it wasn't raining and it was definitely preferable to running up and down all the hills in High Elms Country Park!

18th October 2010

Rather shamefully this evening was the first time that I've been running since before we went to America back in August and so it was also the first time to try out my new running shoes and the Nike + sensor that I bought whilst we were away. It was fairly easy to set upmy iPhone and fitting the sensor in my shoes but the jury is still out on how accurate it is, as unfortunately my GPS was playing up this evening too and couldn't find a signal for a while.  Still I shall give it another go and then if necessary I can apparently calibrate it to suit me.

24th August 2010

Tuesday night is running club night, but sadly tonight was my last evening run of the summer as we're on holiday for a couple of weeks and then it'll be back to helping out at Brownies. It's not quite as sad as it sounds though as the nights are starting to draw in and so there is less time for fun off-road adventures and it is back to pounding the pavements again as the winter approaches. Sometimes when it's cold and dark I'm very grateful to have Brownies as an excuse not to run!

12th August 2010

We walked through the pretty Queen Mary's Rose Gardens on our way to the BBC 10k in Regents Park this evening and found this rather interesting piece of topiary. It was a rather damp for running but that didn't stop both Mr W and I getting PBs in the race!

13th July 2010

My heart doesn't function quite as well as it should and I have a rather cautious cardiologist, hence this morning I was fitted with a 24h heart monitoring device. Not quite sure exactly why, other than it's been a few years since I was last hooked up to one, but I am very tempted to put it through its paces and go for a run. It's only the fact that I can't take a shower for fear of electrocuting myself that's deterring me from giving my cardiologist something to really get excited about!

5th July 2010

There are few more pleasurable ways to work off the stresses of a day in the office than to go for a run across the fields on a warm summer's evening.

17th June 2010

Today's photo was going to be this rather cool old-fashioned convertible car with a canvas awning that I saw whilst running at lunchtime, but then I got home and found our first ripe radish whilst watering the garden.  It may seem dull but this is our first harvest from our new vegetable box that Mr W built for me at the end of last year and so to me it was exciting!  We have now eaten said radish and I can confirm that it was good!

16th June 2010

Today I went to Westfield for the first time, but it was not for the shops. Yet again I have had a busy day elephant hunting - five before work, around 20 whilst on a run at lunchtime and then a mammoth hike across the northern part of the Circle line after work with Mr W culminating in a visit to Westfield to find the shiny pachyderms there.

My feet are exhausted!

13th June 2010

Today we did the Eltham 5 race and I was going to include some rather dull snaps of the Start and Finish flags but then during the run I saw this guy.  Despite the heat he was running in army gear with a full pack and rather than wearing comfy trainers he was wearing his army boots.  Yet for half the race he was ahead of me and then even once I'd overtaken him he wasn't far behind me - quite an inspiration!
