9am on St Swithin's Day and my umbrella was already wet. Not a good omen for the rest of the summer if the old proverb is to be believed:
St Swithun's day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain
St Swithun's day if thou be fair
For forty days 'twill rain no more
